As an integral part of the Hong Kong airport community, managing the environmental impacts of our operations is both a responsibility and a strategic priority. At SATS HK, we are dedicated to embedding sustainability into our core business practices, ensuring that environmental stewardship remains central to our operational ethos.
One of our recent initiatives includes participation in the Hong Kong Airport Authority’s Source Separation Recycling Scheme. This program focuses on segregating recyclable materials at the source, enabling efficient recovery and minimizing waste sent to landfills. By doing so, we actively contribute to advancing the circular economy and reducing the environmental footprint of airport operations.
We have implemented a structured waste segregation system across multiple frontline departments. Using color-coded bags and custom-made labels created by our colleagues, we encourage staff to classify waste accurately. Transparent bags are designated for recyclables such as paper, plastic, glass bottles, and metals, while red bags are used for food waste. This systematic approach ensures effective waste separation at the source, enhancing recycling efficiency and supporting landfill diversion.
Looking ahead, we will continue to enhance our environmental management initiatives. This includes optimizing equipment energy consumption, improving resource utilization efficiency, and fostering a culture of environmental innovation. Through these efforts, we aim to achieve greener operations and contribute to a sustainable future for aviation and beyond.
